Hand of Fate 2 reveals its story in new trailer

There were quite a few trailers released over the course of Playstation Experience – many unfortunately washed away in the tide of The Last of Us Part 2. One such poor soul was a short story trailer for next year’s upcoming Hand of Fate 2 from Defiant Development.
If you never played the original – and you should – Hand of Fate was a fantasy adventure that played in the style of a card game. You began every game with a deck of cards, which contained everything from the possible adventures you could go on, enemies you would face, traps to overcome and equipment to find. The fantastically-voiced dealer would draw cards and read out what it was you were doing before heading into an actual combat sequence.
It’s not the easiest game to explain, but that’s what made it so great. An odd mix of trope’s from a variety of genre’s came together to form something rather brilliant – if let down by poor combat.
Hand of Fate 2, which is set to release in early 2017, is attempting to fix the problems of its predecessor while adding some fun new features. In particular, Hand of Fate 2 will have AI companions that accompany the hero on their journey – each with their own storyline, unique abilities and cards. Lee May, Manager of Communications at Defiant, talked a little about a rather pirate-y companion in a recent Playstation Blog.
Hand of Fate 2 is expected to release in the first quarter of 2017 for PC, Xbox One and Playstation 4.
