Watch 20 Minutes of Life Is Strange: Before the Storm Gameplay

We loved Life Is Strange, Dontnod Entertainment’s kooky episodic adventure game.

From its interesting cast of characters to its clever time control mechanic, it had us mesmerised from start to finish. We were over the moon then, to hear that it was getting a sequel, although likely with a new cast of characters. Also unveiled at E3 however, was the news that a prequel is also in development by Deck Nine Games, with a release date set for the 31st of August.

Life Is Strange: Before the Storm places us in the shoes of Chloe Price, who many will fondly remember as being Max’s best friend from the original Life Is Strange. Taking place three years earlier, it’ll give more of an insight into Chloe’s relationship with Rachel Amber, the popular and beautiful girl who somehow goes missing before the original title kicks off. It’s set to be a shorter affair though, being comprised of only three episodes. Unfortunately, Ashly Burch, the voice actor who played Chloe in the original title was unable to reprise her role for Life Is Strange: Before the Storm due to the SAG-AFTRA strike.

Thanks to Square Enix, 20 minutes of gameplay footage taken from three scenes found within the first episode of Life Is Strange: Before the Storm, called ‘Awake’, has been released for your viewing pleasure. Watch it below to get a taste of what’s to come.
