Pokémon GO Events in Europe Are a No GO For Now

After the – let’s face it – disastrous Pokémon GO event in Chicago this month, Niantic has delayed upcoming Pokémon GO Safari Zone events in Europe.

In an update on the Pokémon GO live website this weekend Niantic updated us on the upcoming Pokémon GO events in Europe. Unfortunately, that update announced delays to some events until a date later in the fall.

Europe will have to wait a bit longer for terrifying Pikachu armies

Events scheduled for August 5 (Copenhagen and Prague) and August 12 (Stockholm and Amsterdam) will no longer be going ahead on those dates. Niantic do express that no other scheduled events are affected including Yokohama, Japan on August 14 and September 16 for the France, Spain and Germany events.

In the update Niantic said: “We apologize for any inconvenience and hope you understand that our priority is to ensure a great experience for Pokémon GO Trainers in Europe and around the world. Trainers that might have questions regarding the Safari Zone events should visit the help center.”

By way of a “special surprise” the players that were hoping to catch some rare Pokémon from the events may still get a chance to; Pokémon rarely found within Europe will appear in certain European cities “for a brief time”.

You can read about my time attempting to play Pokémon GO without using mobile data – something that to this day I still have to attempt to do. I really can’t raid those legendary Pokémon nearby with the pitiful excuse for Pokémon I’ve accumulated, and I’ve still never had the chance to play Pokémon GO as its “real” experience.
