Destiny 2 Reset Guide: 23rd January

Saddle up, Guardians. It’s reset day and there’s loot to be had. With the Faction Rally over, you also have a prize waiting.

The Faction Rally has ended and New Monarchy reigns supreme this time around. The Loquitor IV is yours for a measly 5,000 Glimmer, if you pledged New Monarchy for this rally. If not, empty out those pockets because it’ll cost you 50,000. You can take a look at this beauty below.

Before going on, I’d like to make a small note that I was incorrect in last week’s article by claiming Iron Banner was returning this week. In reality, Iron Banner returns next week, on 30 January. I apologise for any confusion this may have caused you all.

Powerful Engrams

Same old dance as always, folks. Six Powerful Gear engrams to be had this week. They can be obtained through the following methods:

  • Nightfall Completion
  • Clan XP through Strikes, Raids, Crucible, or world activities
  • Leviathan Raid
  • Call to Arms (Crucible Matches)
  • Flashpoint: Public Events on Titan
  • 3 Heroic Strikes

Nothing new or fancy here, as you’d expect. Now, onward to the Nightfall.

Nightfall Guide

We’re heading to Nessus for the Inverted Spire this week. This Strike should be deeply ingrained in your memory at this point, as it was the only one in the Beta. In my opinion, this is one of the easier missions. Not many areas of the mission are heavily littered with enemies, and bouncing from checkpoint to checkpoint should be no problem for the experienced Fireteam. High impact weapons are a good choice for this one, like snipers and shotguns. Auto rifles are so powerful in Destiny 2 that it’s hard to ever say they aren’t useful, so you can’t go wrong there.

Your modifiers this week are:

  • Attrition: Health and Shield regeneration are slowed. Killing enemies may create pools of Light the regenerate health and Supers.
  • Timewarp: Killing Time: Killing any enemy extends the mission timer, but that extension is limited.

Again, no burns. I feel like the presence of burns is basically non-existent in Destiny 2, after being fairly consistent in Destiny. Regardless, the Inverted Spire pits you against Vex and Cabal enemies, with a lot of Solar and Void shields to take down, so plan accordingly. Not much crowd control is necessary in this Strike, outside of one area, so opting for your high damage Subclasses (i.e. Gunslinger, Voidwalker, Striker) isn’t a bad idea. This boss can be eliminated extremely fast if your Fireteam focuses fire, and if you happen to have a Celestial Nighthawk, it’s even quicker.

That’s all we got going on this week in Destiny 2, with the addition of the Eververse inventory swap that always accompanies the reset. Next week, we’ll have another guide and a look at the offerings for the next season of Iron Banner. See you on the battlefield, Guardians.
