7 Nintendo Switch Ports We Really Want to See

4. Grand Theft Auto V

While Rockstar may be preparing to launch its next blockbuster title Red Dead Redemption 2, its previous one still continues to dominate the sales despite being half-a-decade old. So far, Grand Theft Auto V has been released on the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. Spanning two console generations and being consistently updated with new content, Grand Theft Auto V seems like a no brainer at this point.
Its online component may suffer on the Switch thanks to Nintendo’s notorious online infrastructure and their frustrating insistence on having users speak to one another via a separate mobile app, but Grand Theft Auto V is undeniably one of the most wanted games of the generation no matter the console. For those who have only the Switch to accompany them, the game’s absence isn’t easily managed. Since Rockstar has yet to say anything about a Switch port of Red Dead Redemption 2, it’s likely that they aren’t interested in porting its games over – at least yet – but that won’t stop us from trying anyway.
5. Portal 2

There are already plenty of great puzzle games on the Switch but the allure of Valve’s Portal series makes this pick hard to ignore. Besides the fact that I wanted to say “Port Portal 2 To the Switch”, there’s also plenty of reasons outright that would make Portal 2 a great candidate for a port. One of the game’s best features is its cooperative mode where players play as a duo of robots as they make their way through the Aperture test labs. Combining this mode with the Switch’s Joy-Cons means you can turn this game from a single player experience to a multiplayer one at a moment’s notice.
On the other hand, Valve haven’t been too keen on releasing any games as of late but there’s an argument to be had here. Recently Gabe Newell, co-founder and president of Portal’s developer Valve, said that Valve is going to start shipping games again. Before you ask, yes he’s alluded to this sort of thing before. And yes, he probably means shipping games besides their upcoming trading card game Artifact, which was the focus of the event where he made the comment to begin with, but it’s the most we’ve gotten out of the company in years and releasing Portal 2 could be the sort of momentum building release they need before they drop a real bombshell on us.
6. Injustice 2: Legendary Edition

Lord knows the Switch is in need of some classic, competitive fighting games. Outside of Arms and the forthcoming Super Smash Bros., there isn’t much to offer for the fighting game community. With such big releases like Dragonball FighterZ and Street Fighter V Arcade Edition taking up the attention of hardcore fighting game fans on other platforms, Nintendo needs something to help attract more players. What better game to do do than Injustice 2: Legendary Edition?
The Legendary Edition is set to release soon and will come packed in with all of DLC characters released thus far, which include Darkseid, Red Hood, Starfire, Sub-Zero, Black Manta, Raiden, Hellboy, Atom, Enchantress and The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, as well as extra premium costumes and modes. The content-heavy fighter would be a welcome addition to the Switch’s portfolio, especially for a fanbase that’s dying for more fighting games to play. It might not be as satiating as some other fighting games currently making the rounds, but Injustice 2 isn’t a game anybody should want to snooze on.
7. Fallout 4

With as many re-releases as the always present Skyrim has received, it seems almost unfair that when it came time for Bethesda to choose which game to port to the Switch, it chose Skyrim. Again. While it might be great to venture back into the latest Elder Scrolls to shout and dragons and the like, Fallout 4 might be the perfect game to help Bethesda build momentum before the release of its next game.
For all the same reasons Skyrim is fun to play on the Switch, Fallout 4 would fit in perfectly. Being able to play through this massive RPG on your next plane trip can help the hours turn to minutes. More importantly, Fallout 4 has gotten a lot of cool post-release content that might make a returning trip through the post-apocalyptic Earth more enjoyable. If the Switch port was able to snatch mod support, it’d make for the perfect package.
