Cyberpunk 2077 may be set in a dystopian future, but according to Sapkoski’s novels, it’s possible for Ciri to visit Night City.
Cyberpunk 2077’s 40+ minute gameplay trailer revealed so much. Yet, in that time, there was no footage of Ciri: The Lady of Space and Time.
Perhaps it even seems strange to think that Ciri would, or even could, appear in Cyberpunk 2077. After all, apart from the same developer, CD Projekt Red, there’s not much of a connection between the two games. But, as an interview with Polygon reveals: there’s certainly an appetite for Ciri to be included in CyberPunk 2077.
When asked whether Ciri would appear, CD Projekt Red’s CEO Marcin Iwiński merely replied “Your favourite question!” Obviously, the fans want Ciri to make an appearance, and CD Projekt Red know this.
But is it actually possible? Well… (spoilers!) Ciri did once describe to Geralt that she was in a world where “people had metal in their heads.” Maybe that was a clever bit of foreshadowing from CD Projekt Red? And a clear sign that Ciri can indeed travel to worlds like Night City from Cyberpunk 2077.
Sapkowski’s Witcher saga – the original books that the game series is based on – also reveals that Ciri could indeed travel to a world like the one from Cyberpunk 2077. In The Lady of the Lake, Ciri visits a place that is very similar to London. In this world, Ciri saw an “inferno” in a city with a main river, and people suffering from a horrible illness… Sounds a lot like London during the Great Fire, right?
Well, this version of London was described as “one of the foulest Ciri had visited”. But maybe, Night City could actually be worse. Either way, it’s clear that Ciri can travel to a variety of different worlds, which certainly means she could appear in Cyberpunk 2077.
Come on CD Project Red, make it happen! Please…
