CD Projekt Red Explains What Red Dead Redemption 2 Taught Them For Cyberpunk 2077

Cyberpunk 2077 1-min

Information on Cyberpunk 2077 has been pretty scarce since the 48 minute preview released back in August.

Expectations are incredibly high for CD Projekt Red’s biggest game since The Witcher 3, and the bar for great video games has just been raised by the incredible story of Arthur Morgan in Red Dead Redemption 2.

In the November 2018 conference call with CD Projekt Red, the developers acknowledged that Red Dead Redemption 2 “is excellent” and that they’re “rooting for it.” But Adam Kiciński, CEO of CD Projekt, went further by explaining what Rockstar’s most recent release had taught them.

Kiciński stated that they “strive to publish games which are as refined as Red Dead Redemption 2”. Rockstar has shown than games can now be much more successful than films, and has set a new benchmark to “strive” for. Kiciński went on to say that “we need to publish extraordinary games” in order to compete with the competitors, “and that’s exactly what we are planning”.

Despite being very different in terms of tone, Cyberpunk 2077 looks like it’ll share a lot of similarities with Red Dead Redemption 2: interactive open worlds to explore, immersive stories, and engaging characters. It’s interesting that CD Projekt Red is already comparing the two games; hopefully this means that Cyberpunk 2077 will be as good, if not better, than Red Dead Redemption 2. But we can only wait and see.

Gaming has been a life-long love for Stan. To him, there's nothing better than getting lost in a single player adventure. He calls Hyrule home, but occasionally also ventures to a galaxy far far away... Fancy a game of Gwent?
