A new trailer for Missing Link, the latest film from stop-motion powerhouse Laika, has dropped – and it looks gorgeous and charming in equal measure.
Laika is the team behind Coraline, ParaNorman, The Boxtrolls and Kubo and the Two Strings, and its new movie very much follows in that tradition. It tells the story of a talking Bigfoot played by Zach Galifiniakis who goes by Susan (or Mr Link) and is desperately lonely.
When he’s discovered by legendary monster investigator Sir Lionel Frost (a plummy English gent who, for some reason, is played by Hugh Jackman), he persuades him to take him to the other side of the world and find the Yetis, as he’s sure that they’re his cousins and he could really do with some familial companionship. This sets the stage for an epic adventure full of derring-do and drama.
This unlikely duo are joined by free-spirited adventurer Adelina Fortnight (Zoe Saldana), who just happens to know the secret way through the mountains to the home of the Yeti. Also signed up are Matt Lucas, Emma Thompson, Timothy Olyphant, Stephen Fry and David Walliams, although there’s no word yet on who exactly they are playing.
Missing Link hits UK screens on 5 April, with the US release coming a week later on April 12.
