The Mortal Kombat 2’s movie’s soundtrack track list reveals who fights who
Are you wondering who’ll come out on top in the upcoming Mortal Kombat 2 movie? Then stop reading now, because we’re getting into potential spoiler territory. The Mortal Kombat 2 soundtrack is out and it confirms the movie’s fights and all but confirms the demise of one character.
From Benjamin Wallfisch, who also composed the previous movie’s tunes, the Mortal Kombat 2 soundtrack listing contains various location and scene-specific tracks, such as ‘The Portal’, ‘The Temple’ and so on, but several of the tracks detail which characters are going head to head.
For a start, the track listing heavily suggests it won’t be Johnny Cage who ultimately defeats Shao Kahn. Instead, the album’s final fight track is ‘Kitana vs Shao Kahn’. Shao Kahn, the movie’s big bad, killed Kitana’s father, King Jerrod, so it makes sense that she’d be the one to finish him.
The Mortal Kombat 2 soundtrack also all-but-confirms a popular fan theory that Cole Young, the previous movie’s protagonist, is going to be killed off. The only track that namechecks him is Cole vs Shao Kahn and, after that, he doesn’t get a look in. He’s also had a minimal presence in the movie’s trailers. We’ve got our fingers crossed that he gets resurrected as a new Scorpion.
Here’s the Mortal Kombat 2 movie’s soundtrack listing, with the vs. tracks highlighted:
- Jerrod & Kitana
- Shao Khan vs. King Jerrod
- Jade
- The Prophet
- The Portal

There are a few battles that don’t specifically have ‘vs’ tracks, and will no doubt be covered by other tracks. From clips, we know that Scorpion takes on Bi-Han/Sub-Zero and Liu Kang also takes on an undead Kung Lao.
You can stream/buy the Mortal Kombat 2 soundtrack from Amazon, Apple, Spotify and so on, though there doesn’t seem to be a physical CD yet. The Mortal Kombat 2 movie hits cinemas this May 8th.
