The latest game in the Pokémon series is here: Pokémon Sword and Shield! And set in a brand new region, it brings with it a tonne of brand new Pokémon, too.
Of course, there are plenty of familiar faces – Pikachu, Eevee and Meowth just to name a few – but you’ll also encounter lots of weird and wonderful new pocket monster species. They’re led by Scorbunny, Sobble and Grookey, the three starting Pokémon that your trainer can choose between.
But how many Pokémon are in Pokémon Sword altogether?
There are at least 333 Pokémon in Sword’s Pokédex. That includes all Pokémon types and their evolutions.
That’s a lot of monsters to catch and collect! But Galar, the world of Pokémon Sword and Shield, is massive – so you’ll be encountering those species in no time. Remember, you don’t have to catch a Pokémon for it to be added to your Pokédex: simply encountering it in battle will add it. But if you want to truly complete it, you’ll of course want to, uh, catch ’em all. Good luck!
