Wanting to change your villager’s appearance in Animal Crossing: New Horizons? Here’s what you need to know.
When you first start out creating a character in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, you may find yourself wondering, “Is this it?” There’s only a few customisation options to begin with, but you’ll unlock more as you play the game.
In order to change your looks you need a mirror or a vanity – i.e. a piece of furniture that has to be placed inside your house. You might not have access to a mirror straight away, but it won’t be long until you either unlock a mirror recipe, get gifted one, or can purchase one from the shop.
Once you have a mirror, you can place it inside your home. Interacting with it will ask if you want to “change up your look”. Doing this will allow you to change your villager’s hair style and appearance. You’ll have all the same options you had at the start of the game, with a few extras depending on what you’ve acquired. You’ll be able to buy new hairstyles with Nook Miles from the Nook Stop, for example.
You can also change your clothes (or design your own using the Custom Design app on your Nook Phone) whenever you like. If you have a clothing item in your inventory, simply select it and choose ‘wear’ to put it on. If you have a wardrobe in your house, you can use that to cycle through all the outfits currently in your storage to choose a look.
