How to Invite New Villagers to Your Island in Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Looking to invite some more villagers to your island in Animal Crossing: New Horizons? Check out this guide to find out how.

If you’ve just got started in Animal Crossing: New Horizons then you know that things can get a bit stale after the first few days. You’re talking to the same five people day-in, day-out and wouldn’t it be nice to have someone new come along? Well, it isn’t difficult to invite a new villager to come to your island.

You’ll need to be on at least your second day playing New Horizons, as the airport needs to be unlocked. At this point, talking to Tom Nook will gift you a Nook Miles Ticket. After you’ve used this one, you can buy more from the Nook Stop ATM in Resident Services for 2,000 Nook Miles each. They can be redeemed at the airport, and they allow you to travel to a mystery island. To use it, talk to the Dodo at the airport counter. He’ll ask you where you want to go and you simply have to say, “I wanna fly!”

Good old Mr. Dodo will ask you where, and you’ll let him know you want to use your ticket. Then you’ll head off to a mystery island. On almost every mystery island you visit at this point in the game, you’ll come across a villager out exploring. They’ll tell you their story and if you keep talking to them eventually you’ll be prompted to invite them over to your island for permanent residence.

Initially you can invite up to three new villagers to come live on your island. They won’t appear immediately; once all three have been invited, Tom Nook will task you with picking out three plots for their houses, and sourcing some furniture for each. Once that’s done, the new villagers will arrive one by one over the next three days.

Becca knew that she would be addicted to video games for the rest of her life when she saw the first pixelated zombie shambling across her TV screen while playing Resident Evil 3. She particularly enjoys being scared, laughing until she cries, or just plain crying while experiencing games. When she isn't playing games she loves spoiling her cat Usagi and eating any kind of sushi she can find.
