How to Open and Use Your Inventory in Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Animal Crossing inventory

Oh man. What am I going to do with all this stuff?

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is finally here and thousands of players are picking up the game and doing all they can to have the most fun and relaxing experience ever. But, of course that comes with one of the most dreaded elements of any video game – inventory management.

Dun dun dunnnnnn.

But is not all bad because we’ve got a few days in the game under our belts and we’re here to help you out.

To use your inventory you just press the ‘X’ button on your controller to open it up. If you’re looking to equip a tool you can hover over what you wish to equip and your character will do so. To place something like furniture you simply choose “Place Item” when you’re inside your house or outside.

If you want to combine items together, for example you want to put one pear on a pile of six pears, hold down ‘A’ to select the item and drag it over to the pile. That way all your items are nicely organized together.

If your inventory happens to get full, you can actually go over to your tent/house and access storage at a certain point during your first day or two. Just go into your house and open up your inventory. Then click on the item you wish to put into storage and it will give you the option to do so. If you wish to retrieve something from storage, while inside your house click on the left arrow key to open up your storage and retrieve your item.

And that’s just a few tips on how to use your inventory in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Here’s hoping everyone is having a great time with the game.

Becca knew that she would be addicted to video games for the rest of her life when she saw the first pixelated zombie shambling across her TV screen while playing Resident Evil 3. She particularly enjoys being scared, laughing until she cries, or just plain crying while experiencing games. When she isn't playing games she loves spoiling her cat Usagi and eating any kind of sushi she can find.
