How to Recruit Blathers for Your Island in Animal Crossing: New Horizons

If you’ve played an Animal Crossing game before, you’ll of course be wondering about Blathers. Here’s how to recruit him in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

Animal Crossing is all about relaxation, simplicity and friendship. That’s why it’s so fun to be able to invite all of your animal friends to your beautiful island getaway. It’s quite a big reunion after so many years.

I was wondering, of course, whether or not old Blathers the owl was going to make an appearance in this new instalment. Thankfully, of course, he’s just as big a part of Animal Crossing: New Horizons as ever. But how do you get him to set up his tent on your island exactly?

Once you get past the beginning cut scenes and you’re able to wander about on your own, head over to Nook’s tent and ask him what you should be doing. He’ll suggest you check out the local flora and fauna and show him whatever you collect. You’ll want to equip your fishing rod or bug net and catch five fish or bugs.

When you bring them back to Nook, he’ll take them from you after asking permission to show them to a good friend of his. After giving him five items, Blathers himself will give Tom a call and ask for a spot on the island to set up so he can check out the local wildlife himself. You’ll choose a spot for his tent and he’ll appear on your island the very next day.

And there you have it. If you can’t wait to start collecting things to donate to Blathers, then follow the above steps and he’ll be showing up in no time.

Becca knew that she would be addicted to video games for the rest of her life when she saw the first pixelated zombie shambling across her TV screen while playing Resident Evil 3. She particularly enjoys being scared, laughing until she cries, or just plain crying while experiencing games. When she isn't playing games she loves spoiling her cat Usagi and eating any kind of sushi she can find.
