It’s been over 20 years since we got to snap the original 151 Pokemon in the Nintendo 64 classic Pokémon Snap.
But now all Pokémon Champions have the chance to grab their cameras again; New Pokémon Snap is coming to Nintendo Switch.
The announcement was made today during Nintendo’s Pokémon Presents stream. It was accompanied by new Pokémon Go announcements and a couple of new titles. Pokémon Café Mix is a free-to-start puzzle game coming to Switch next week. And Pokémon Smile is an app aimed at children… to help them brush their teeth. Alright then.
Aside from the news that The Pokémon Company’s “next big project” is getting unveiled next week, the highlight was undoubtedly the reveal of New Pokémon Snap. The trailer showed off the traditional format of photographing Pokémon; but this time it features Pokémon from all different regions.
The official website for the New Pokemon Snap reveals that you’ll be able to explore settings like lush jungles and sandy beaches. You’ll have plenty of opportunities to fill up the Photodex. The trailer also shows off a beautiful island setting, allowing players to be able to see Pokémon in their natural habitats – with some surprises, like seeing a Squirtle ride a Lapras.
There’s no set release date yet for the New Pokémon Snap, but it’s enough to get us excited. We’ll have more information as it becomes available. For now, watch the Pokémon Presents stream below.
