Resident Evil Village finally has a release date. But even better, PS5 owners can have a very small taste of it right now.
7th May is the day that gamers can get their hands on Resident Evil Village, whether they own a PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, or PC. That’s right, it’s no longer a next-gen console exclusive. Those who pick up the game on PS4 or Xbox One will also be able to upgrade their copy to the appropriate next-gen version for free.
An additional surprise for PS5 owners is that a demo for Resident Evil Village has been placed on the PlayStation Store, enabling them to get an idea of what’s in store for them when the game launches. While Resident Evil Village will once again star Ethan Winters, who survived the horrors of Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, the Maiden demo places players in the shoes of an unknown character who can’t fight back against the monstrosities found in the castle in which they’ve been trapped. All they can do is attempt to escape.
Another Resident Evil Village demo will be made available for all formats at some point in the future, but until then, the Maiden demo at least gives players an example of the tone and atmosphere of the game. We’ve played though it and it has highly impressed us. The visuals are astounding, it plays wonderfully, and the atmosphere is so thick you could cut it with a knife. It also managed to make us jump a time or two.
