The new psychological thriller Martha is Dead gets a release date for PC, PlayStation and Xbox.
Martha is Dead is alive, with a new trailer dropping at the Golden Joystick Awards and a release date to boot. It’s being developed by Italian studio LKA, who previously brought us The Town of Light; a tense exploration game with an atmosphere that we couldn’t get enough of.
And so, if that’s anything to go by, then Martha is Dead is certainly one to watch. It will bring players face-to-face with the impact that World War II had on the Italian countryside; mixing the real-world Tuscan landscape with superstition, folklore and psychological horror. Sounds right up our street, if we’re honest. And we won’t have to wait too long to play: it’s scheduled to release on 24th February next year.
The recently unveiled trailer, which you can watch below, showcases how the game uses Unreal Engine 4 and its ‘Metahuman’ technology to create truly lifelike characters, particularly in the twins Martha and Giulia.
While gameplay is still something of a mystery, we personally can’t wait to see how the game tackles the fairly hefty themes in play here. It’s also an incredibly interesting setting for a thriller title so if, like us, you’re big fans of the darker side of gaming, it looks like Martha is Dead will be one to watch.
Pre-orders for the physical versions of the title are now available here for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 consoles, and come with a reversible sleeve, double-sided poster, sticker sheet and a digital download Tarot card pack. Along with that, a limited edition triple vinyl soundtrack album had also been announced, and you can register your interest for that here.
Martha is Dead is due for release on 24th February 2022 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S. Give that trailer a watch now:
