Do Weapons Break in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom?

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild was infamous for its weapons snapping mid-fight. So do Tears of the Kingdom’s weapons also break?

After all, if you’re taking on the forces of evil, in a land that’s undergoing a second apocalypse, it’d be handy to have reliable weapons. So is Link in danger of finding himself with a broken weapon? Do weapons break in Tears of the Kingdom?

The answer is yes, Tears of the Kingdom’s weapons do break. They’re about as durable as Breath of the Wild’s, though the gloom and corruption pervading the kingdom could be seen as an excuse.

So, never be caught without a weapon. We recommend having plenty of spares, even if they’re just sticks. What you can do if you get a warning that your weapon is close to breaking is fuse it with another item, such as a rock.

Will this give you a brand new weapon? Not exactly, though it will do more damage. We’re not convinced Tears of the Kingdom classes it as an entirely new weapon. But it will be more durable than your old on-the-way out weapon. This fused weapon will, however, still also break.

You also can’t repair weapons. So, yes, weapons do break in Tears of the Kingdom.

He’ll tackle most genres – football titles aside – though he has a taste for games that that are post-apocalyptic, horror-oriented or thought provoking in nature.
