Ten games we really want to play on Nintendo Switch 2

The Nintendo Switch 2 is finally here, and it’s already impressed us. As a piece of hardware it simply feels more premium, what with its magnetic Joy-Con controllers and wonderful 8-inch screen that’s sharp and full of colour. Then there’s the launch line-up. Alongside the brilliant first-party exclusive Mario Kart World, there’s the likes of Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition which really shows off what the hardware of capable of, as well as multiple other titles which excel in their genre.

While we’re looking forward to more brand new games releasing on Switch 2 from Nintendo themselves and third-parties, there are also plenty of existing games which we really hope make the leap to the hybrid console follow-up. Covering a wide range of genres, we’ve assembled a top ten list of them which you’ll find below. If any of these games are added to the Switch 2 library we’ll be very happy indeed. And you know what? We reckon there’s a good chance that multiple of them will.

1. Forza Horizon 5

When it comes to open-world racing games, one quite easily stands above all others: the mighty Forza Horizon 5. With it being an Xbox Studios game, we would have once laughed at the idea of it being available on Nintendo hardware. Now that Microsoft is essentially a third-party publisher, however, it could actually happen.

Having been released on Xbox One as well as Series X/S, there’s no reason why Forza Horizon 5 isn’t possible on Switch 2. It’s even arcadey in nature, which means that the Switch 2 Joy-Cons not having analogue triggers shouldn’t matter all that much.

2. Clair Obscur: Expedition 33

Does this game really need an introduction? Having already proven itself as one of the best games of 2025, we’d kill to have Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 available on Switch 2. Those who haven’t yet played it would be able to enjoy it anywhere, and chances are those of us who have played it might consider picking it up again just to re-experience its dramatic scenes and electrifying turn-based battles. This just has to happen, surely!

3. Baldur’s Gate 3

There’s only one word you can use to effectively describe Baldur’s Gate 3, and that word is epic. This RPG blew nearly everyone away when it launched back in 2023, it would seem, and you know what would be great? Being able to play it on Switch 2.

We think the hardware is capable enough, and Baldur’s Gate 3 is the type of game we’d love to make some progress in while laid in bed or on a long journey. It would likely stay installed on our consoles, too, thanks to how much replayability it offers.

4. Red Dead Redemption 2

You know what’s criminal? That there hasn’t been a next-gen (current-gen technically) upgrade for Red Dead Redemption 2 yet. There have been rumours of it happening, though, as well as a Switch 2 release. We really hope that it happens, because this game is utterly amazing, and we’d like nothing more than to explore its detailed world as Arthur Morgan here, there and everywhere.

Again, having been released on PS4 and Xbox One, there’s no reason why it should make its way to Switch 2 eventually.

5. Silent Hill 2

Currently a PS5 console exclusive, when it comes to horror games, the remake of Silent Hill 2 is perhaps the freakiest of them all. Thanks to a crunchy combat system, some brilliant performances and plenty of well-considered updates, this new version of Silent Hill 2 is essential for horror fans.

It’s for that reason we hope it eventually makes its way to Switch 2. Just imagine being chased by grotesque creatures as you explore a run-down hotel as you lay in bed. Sounds good to us.

6. Monster Hunter Wilds

Nintendo handhelds are perhaps considered the home of Monster Hunter games by some, though there have been some only available on PC and traditional consoles. The Switch 2 has considerable grunt, though, which means that there’s not really any reason why the likes of Monster Hunter: World or Monster Hunter Wilds should be available to play handheld.

We’d accept either, but we’d prefer Wilds if we’re being honest. DLSS might have to do some heavy lifting to get it at a playable framerate, but being able to explore its open world and take down its new monsters on the move would be priceless.

7. Diablo 4

The always-online requirement for Diablo 4 might make it a tricky game to effectively bring to Switch 2, but we’d be up for it. After all, Hitman: World of Assassination is also essentially an online-only game, and there’s also the likes of Fortnite. Also, who knows what lies ahead for Diablo 4.

Maybe at some point, an offline mode might become available; the console version of Diablo 3 had one, after all. In any case, we’d just love to be able to log in and complete an Infernal Horde or two, or simply roam a Helltide.

8. Grand Theft Auto V

Grand Theft Auto VI might be on the way, but have you seen the trailer? Somehow we don’t think that will be making its way to Switch 2. Grand Theft Auto V, on the other hand, is totally feasible.

Having originally launched on PS3 and Xbox 360, Rockstar Games should be easily able to port it to Nintendo’s latest hybrid console, perhaps reaching even more fans, if that’s at all possible. Look, we just want to drive around its world like a maniac and dip into its story here and there on yet another format, okay?

9. DOOM: The Dark Ages

While the 2016 version of DOOM and its follow-up DOOM Eternal are both available on the original Switch, we think there’s zero chance of DOOM: The Dark Ages joining them, thanks to requiring hardware capable of ray-tracing.

You know what does have ray-tracing support, though? Switch 2. So, could we see a Switch 2 port of DOOM: The Dark Ages in the future? We sure hope so. While the reception to it has been mixed, we absolutely love its fast-paced gameplay and new parry mechanics.

10. Lost Records: Bloom and Rage

If you’re after a gripping and emotionally-charged narrative-driven adventure game, Don’t Nod has you covered. You might already be a fan of the studio if you’ve played Life is Strange on the original Switch. Lost Records: Bloom & Rage is the studio’s latest effort, and it’s just as good as Life is Strange — if not perhaps even better.

It’s the type of game we’d gladly get comfortable with on the sofa or laid in bed on a winter’s eve, wondering what’s going to happen next as its story twists and turns. Please make it happen, Don’t Nod.
