Subnautica is 75% off on Steam and Xbox and it’s got the best submarine in the series

As fantastic as Subnautica 2 is, to the point that it sold two milion copies in 12 hours, you shouldn’t overlook the original. Not only is it 75% off on Steam and Xbox right now, it has the coolest series in the series, by far.
I’m talking about the Cyclops, the huge deep-water sub you can construct in Subnautica. Sure, Subnautica: Below Zero’s Seatruck is kind of fun, but it lacks the power and presence of the Cyclops, which is so massive you can actually park the Seamoth mini-sub inside it.
Aside from looking cool, piloting the Cyclops into the depths of Subnautica’s ocean always gives me the chills. Why? Because you’re solo piloting a vessel that’s clearly meant for multiple occupants. It underlines how very alone you are and the deeper you dive, the stronger and more stomach-churning that feeling becomes.
And, when things go wrong, you’ve got time to panic. The Sea Truck and Sea Moth can be wiped out in a matter of moments, especially if you’re being harried by a Leviathan. But the Cyclops? Fires break out, the oxygen level plummets, and so on. You’re around just long enough to watch your painstakingly-crafted wonder-sub fall apart.
Given the size of the Cyclops, I have my fingers crossed it will eventually make it into Subnautica 2, via a later update. Yes, they’ll be arguments over who gets to drive, but it’s just made for multiplayer, serving as a roving base for deeper expeditions.
If you’ve not played the original Subnautica, it’s 75% off on Xbox and PC, making it just £6.49/$7.49. As for its sequel, you can pick it up on PC and Xbox for £25.99. It’s also on Xbox Game Pass.
