Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl Has a Suitably Gloomy New Trailer

A new Stalker 2 trailer is out and it offers a grim glimpse into life inside the zone.

Dubbed the “Come to Me” trailer, it introduces some of the soldiers and stalkers who populate this FPS’s open world. Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl, if you’ve not played the original, takes place in the Zone, where a mysterious disaster has warped reality.

Yes, mad scientists are to blame – aren’t they always – but there’s profit to be made from plundering the zone. That’s where you and your fellow stalkers come in, facing mutants, enemy factions and odd, potentially lethal phenomenon.

The trailer doesn’t name any of the characters, especially not the ones that you shoot in the face, but they all look pretty miserable. “I am blind but it’s you who cannot see,” says one character. It sounds dramatic, but you just know he’s been waiting weeks to use that line.

Stalker 2 looks pretty impressive in faction, especially compared to the original which was always a little janky. It’ll be landing on Xbox Series X|S and PC so there should be plenty of power behind the game.

However, there’s a melancholy note to the trailer’s release, which kicks off with the words “Made in Ukraine”. Developer GDC Game World, while currently based in Prague, is a Ukranian developer, so they’re clearly feeling the effects of Russia’s ongoing invasion.

To make matters worse, Stalker developer Vladmir Yezhov was killed while fighting the invading Russian forces.  Considering the events that have been taking place during its production, the game itself could take on a new tone.

You can check the trailer out above and get your hands on Stalker 2 when it launches some time in 2023. You can also pre-purchase it on Steam here. Aside from arriving on PC and Xbox Series X|S, it’ll also land on Game Pass.
