It’s been a while since we’ve had a Division game. The Division 2 came out way back in 2019, which feels like an absolute lifetime ago now. And while Ubisoft is working on a new mainline game in the series, little has been heard about it for some time. Thankfully, there’s The Division Resurgence, a free-to-play game set in The Division universe. Previously just available on mobile devices, it’s now landed on PC.

Well, in a fashion, anyway. Ubisoft says it will “officially” launch in August, when season two of the game begins. But until then, you can enjoy the game in early access via Ubisoft Connect. Any progression you make will carry over to the full version, and if you want to play on mobile as well, your save will carry over across devices. Ah, the joys of technology.

The Division Resurgence is set in New York City, and features a brand new storyline separate from The Division and The Division 2. You’ll take on the role of an SHD agent, where you can explore the world either as a solo player or team up with other agents. The Division series is known for its loot and RPG elements, and they’re all present here, with upgrading your character with gear and weapons a big part of the experience.

If you fancy jumping in on PC, there’s not much to stop you: it’s free to download, and since it started life as a mobile game, the required specifications for running The Division Resurgence aren’t too demanding. You’ll need a minimum of a 4th generation i5 and Intel UHD 630 integrated graphics. Pretty sure you’ll have a more powerful potato in your kitchen cupboard. To run on very high settings, you’ll need an 8th gen Intel i7 and a GTX 1660 Ti or equivalent. So, as long as your PC’s from the last decade or so, you should be good to go.

Along with launching on PC, Ubisoft has also laid out a roadmap for The Division Resurgence, promising a new season every four months, and new content landing every six weeks. On 12th May, the next phase of season one kicks off, bringing Dark Zone and Speed Run challenges, and new sets of cosmetic items.

Following that will be phase 3 in June, bringing more weapon skins, free weapons and new apparel. Season 2 in August will focus on the official PC release, while season 3 in August will see a major story expansion.
