“The Invincible has just about everything one could ask for in a sci-fi thriller: robots, the unknown, a foreboding sense of unease.” That’s what we said about Starward Industries’ 2023 sci-fi adventure in our The Invincible review, and this absolute gem is a ridiculous 90% off in the Steam Summer Sale.

Loosely based on the book by Stanislaw Lem (who also wrote Solaris), it has you roaming Regis III, a desert planet that may have claimed the lives of your fellow crew. It leans hard sci-fi (no giggling at the back) rather than repeatedly having you blast aliens in the face; you’re inching towards the truth with each step.

It’s also absolutely gorgeous to look at, which will only make you more suspicious of what may be lurking beneath Regis III’s surface. We awarded it 8 out of 10, concluding that “Starward Industries has created something rather wonderful here, and I can’t wait to see what they do next.”

Now, thanks to Steam’s Summer Sale it’s a ridiculous £2.49/$2.99, making it a must-have for fans of science fiction. And with a 5-8 hour runtime and multiple endings, it represents serious value for money.

You can buy The Invincible here, with Steam’s Summer Sale running until July 9th. As for Starward Industries, they’re working on their next title, ‘high-risk extraction survival game’ Into the Fire.
