Last night it was confirmed that United Front Games had been shut down. While the studio itself has still not officially confirmed its closure, employees and people closely related to the studio have confirmed the rumours.
United Front Games had previously developed the much-loved Sleeping Dogs but fell into financial trouble after the game’s spiritual successor, Triad Wars, was cancelled. The team recently re-emerged and announced Smash + Grab, a team-based brawler releasing in Early Access. Our local writer, David Treharne, gave the title a shot and enjoyed it.
It seems now that Smash + Grab is no longer available on Steam and the studio has closed its doors. Our thoughts go out to the employees of the Vancouver-based studio.
Ruaraidh DempsterRuaraidh - pronounced Roo-Ree - is a Scottish gamer with the name and games to prove it. He enjoys mostly everything, unless it involves exercise, and much prefers to run around inside a good, open-world RPG, being chased across the lands by a horde of monsters after his sweet loot. When he has made his escape, he will often return to the real world to continue playing anything with a good story - indie or otherwise.
