The Flame in the Flood Coming to PS4 in January 2017

The Game Awards are over – and you can see our round-up here – but that doesn’t mean more announcements will stop coming. The Molasses Flood’s end-of-the-world survival game, The Flame in the Flood, is coming to Playstation 4. The game previously released in February this year for PC and Xbox One.

Set in a world where much of America has been flooded you set off, on a raft, along with your sidekick dog Aesop, to find out what happened and survive the watery wilderness. As always, the world is procedurally-generated with crafting, surviving and inventory managing being your main avenues for gameplay – with the theme being the real star here.

The whole world is soaked in Americana style and the rather wonderful soundtrack has been created by American Folk musician Chuck Ragan. The Playstation 4 release also comes with some extra’s including a developer’s commentary and gameplay enhancements – along with avatars and a dynamic theme.

When we reviewed The Flame in the Flood back earlier this year, Claire found that while it was “a frustrating, unfair, extremely difficult, masochistically addictive game” it was still “fun, and each game you play is different from the last.”
