Star Wars Battlefront Breathes Life Into PSVR

Since PSVR launched, gamers everywhere have been waiting for that one moment that completely sells the idea of the product. Well, wait no longer. Get ready to fulfill your childhood fantasy and strap into an X-Wing. Star Wars Battlefront has added a free VR mission with its latest update. Though brief, this little add-on will leave you wanting more of the same. After my time with it I can say this: someone please make a full length Star Wars fighter pilot VR game!

If you’re one of the current PSVR owners, I know how you’ve been feeling. There are few experiences available at the moment that truly create awe-inspiring sensations. I’ve struggled to find that one game, or demo, that really makes me feel like no other non-VR game could. Well, that product is finally here. From one PSVR owner to another, trust me when I say that this is worth the time and money.

Everything about (deep breath, all together now) Star Wars Battlefront Rogue One: X-Wing VR Mission is fantastic. The sights, the sounds, the controls, the pure adrenaline of being in a dogfight inside an X-Wing. Yes, you need Star Wars Battlefront to access it, but with that game dropping in price all over (just $13.99 in the US this week on PSN), I’d venture to say it’s worth it. When it’s all over, you’ll be sweating and trembling. It is a fantastic experience to behold.

The mission itself will only run you about 25-30mins, but you’ll remember every second. If you haven’t played through it, or watched it somewhere, I really don’t want to spoil much. But for the Star Wars fanatics out there, you’ll do pretty much everything you’ve always dreamed about doing in an X-Wing. What Star Wars Battlefront Rogue One: X-Wing VR Mission really does is hammer home the point about how stunning aerial combat games will be in VR. It gives me great hope for the upcoming Ace Combat 7, which looks beautiful in its latest showing.

If you have a PSVR, and have Star Wars Battlefront, there is no reason not to give this a shot. PSVR has never given me quite the experience I’ve desired until now. Please, anyone, anywhere…make this into a full length game. It is like living a Star Wars movie scene, and it feels like nothing else.
