Super Mario Run, Nintendo’s first flagship IP on mobile devices, is finally coming to Android in March. Originally launching back in December 2016 on iOS, the autorunner was an absolutely massive success; with 50 million downloads in a single week.
It seems Nintendo’s deal with Apple is coming to an end and users on Android can experience it – but how well will it do now the hype has died down? The game itself was generally well-received but public reception was more mixed on the substantial – for a mobile game – price and always-online requirement.
No direct date or price has been set but it is worth noting that Apple recently raised prices in the UK by 25% due to Brexit. It is unknown whether the Google Play store will also be raising prices but it wouldn’t come as a surprise. Super Mario Run originally launched for £7.99 but will soon increase to £9.99. So expect a price-point around there for Android.
Nintendo also announced last night that Android users will get to experience Fire Emblem Heroes first, on February 2, with iOS support coming later.

Ruaraidh DempsterRuaraidh - pronounced Roo-Ree - is a Scottish gamer with the name and games to prove it. He enjoys mostly everything, unless it involves exercise, and much prefers to run around inside a good, open-world RPG, being chased across the lands by a horde of monsters after his sweet loot. When he has made his escape, he will often return to the real world to continue playing anything with a good story - indie or otherwise.
