Hitman: Season One Gets Disc Release Today

The first season of IO Interactive’s Hitman ended up better than most gave it credit for. Before release, criticism came from all angles – mainly stemming from its unique episodic release. In the end, the game has been praised for bringing Agent 47 back to his roots – and now you can own it on a disc!
Hitman: The Complete First Season releases today in both physical and digital form. The physical edition also comes with a steelbook case and both get various extra digital goodies. Extra content includes three bonus missions from the exclusive Summer episode, the ‘Blood Money’ pack – which includes in-game items – as well as the soundtrack and a ‘Making of’ documentary.
IO Interactive also promise that timed-elusive contracts will continue after release – but any missed up until now are gone forever. We reviewed the complete season after all episodes had launched and found that it “managed to take the series back to its roots with style.” Rich found it “spectacular” and that gameplay was “full of nail-bitingly tense moments and is hugely rewarding.”
He did, however, have problems with the title being bafflingly always-online. “Despite being a single player game, without being connected to the internet a huge chunk of it suddenly becomes unavailable. And if you happen to lose your internet connection or the game’s servers have issues while you’re playing, you’ll find yourself unceremoniously thrown back to the main menu.”
Which obviously means Agent 47 is a machine running on cloud-services. So maybe consider holding off if your internet isn’t the greatest or is prone to dropping every now and then.
Hitman: The Complete First Season launches today on both physical and digital platforms.
