There is large chance you haven’t heard of Team Cherry or their upcoming 2D action sidescroller Hollow Knight: Beneath and Beyond, but you really should have. Here is an absolutely stunning and beautiful world created by a team of three.
The game takes place in the underground world of Hallownest, home to age-old heroes and terrifying insects alike. Hollow Knight: Beneath and Beyond’s focus is on skill and exploration as you make your way through ruined underground cities, fungal wastes and forests of bone all created in a beautifully eerie traditional art style.
It looks to take inspiration from the many great sidescrollers we have had recently. The art-style seems to be reminiscent of Ori and the Blind Forest and the fluid combat of Yacht Club’s Shovel Knight.
Team Cherry hopes that Hollow Knight: Beneath and Beyond will be releasing in the next few months and will first be available on PC, Wii U, Mac and Linux. Other platforms will be considered down the line and the game will release for only $15 USD.
Ruaraidh - pronounced Roo-Ree - is a Scottish gamer with the name and games to prove it. He enjoys mostly everything, unless it involves exercise, and much prefers to run around inside a good, open-world RPG, being chased across the lands by a horde of monsters after his sweet loot. When he has made his escape, he will often return to the real world to continue playing anything with a good story - indie or otherwise.
