PS4K “Neo” to be officially revealed next month

At the start of the week, we reported that a French blog claimed that sources close to them had confirmed that Sony’s updated PS4 would be revealed in New York next month. Well, it turns out they were right.

Members of the press have recently received an invitation from Sony simply titled “PlayStation Meeting”. The invitation details that said meeting will take place on “September 7, at 3pm ET @ The PlayStation Theatre, New York.” It’s not the first time that rumours and reports that have circulated on the French site have been true. So, it really does look like we will see a substantial reveal of Sony’s new hardware early next month.

As we noted in our report earlier this week, the reveal of the new hardware makes sense as Microsoft have recently launched their updated Xbox One model – the Xbox One S – and have another project, “Scorpio,” planned for a future date. Also, Nintendo are most likely busy in development with the NX – a new console that the company will also probably reveal by the end of the year.

The updated PS4 – whether it will still be titled Neo or Ps4K – will feature updated 4K support in terms of gaming and also video support for streaming services such as Netflix as well as the ability to read and play 4k Ultra-HD discs.

Whatever Sony have planned for the their updated PS4, we won’t have to wait long. September 7 will roll around very shortly and it could prove to be a very exciting day for PlayStation gamers around the world. Watch this space!
