Spotify launch channel for video game music

Spotify have launched a dedicated channel to video game music. The streaming service has included many popular game soundtracks as well as inviting game developers to curate and share their own music playlists.

The channel has a somewhat limited choice of soundtracks so far but Spotify will be updating it regularly. There’s still a lot for video games fans to enjoy though. The list currently includes games such as:

  • Halo, Halo 2, Halo 3
  • Dragon Age
  • Mass Effect 2 and 3
  • No Man’s Sky
  • The Last of Us
  • Uncharted 4

The Spotify app can be handily downloaded to a PS4 dashboard allowing access to the gaming section of the service. Users will need to be subscribed to the service though in order to listen to the full experience.

It’s an interesting step for the streaming service as gaming soundtracks are popular as ever currently. 65daysofstatic have recently created part of the soundscape for the much anticipated No Man’s Sky, which launched earlier this week.

Another notable example of recent popular soundtracks is Jessica Curry’s BAFTA win for sound design in Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture.
