Quern: Undying Thoughts is a Myst-like puzzle game

We’ve had the resurgence of the classic shooter with titles such as DOOM, Wolfenstein and Shadow Warrior. Now, it looks like the 90’s adventure-puzzle games are making a comeback too. Just this year we’ve had Cyan’s own Obduction along with The Witness. Here to join the pack is Quern – Undying Thoughts, the first title from Zadbox Entertainment.
Releasing later today, Quern places you on a mysterious island, wrought with puzzles and mystery’s for you to explore and solve – sounds eerily familiar. It takes obvious inspiration from games like Myst and Riven while giving the genre – and the visuals – a modern lick of paint. The title was successfully Kickstarted earlier this year, passing its goal of £20,000 and reaching £25,000.
Along with a promise of challenging puzzles which continue throughout the game, Quern – Undying Thoughts also offers a changing storyline. While exploring the island, the player is contacted by two equally mysterious people who ask the character to investigate the island in differing ways. One asks the player not to physically change the enviroment whereas the other wants the land to be manipulated. Your choices will affect both the story and how the puzzles play out.
Quern – Undying Thoughts is available later today on Steam.
