How to Save Your Game in Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age

Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age is finally here!

After over a decade since the last home-console release, Dragon Quest has finally returned. In it, you’ll take the role of the Luminary, the reincarnation of an ancient hero, as you and your friends go on an adventure across the entire world of Dragon Quest XI. However, you might find yourself a bit weary from your journey, so you’ll need to get some rest and save your game.

Although there is an autosave function available, in a game as sprawling as Dragon Quest XI, you might want to air on the safe side and save manually.

How to manually save your game in Dragon Quest XI

Unfortunately, you can’t simply open up the menu in Dragon Quest XI and save whenever you’d like. Instead, the game uses a traditional save point system which is accessed at Churches and Shrines across your journey.

If you’re in a town, all you’ll need to do is find your local church and speak to whoever is attending it. There, you’ll simply select “Confession (Save)”, and you’ll be able to save your game into your adventure log. You’ll also be able to check how much experience each character will need to level up, resurrect any fallen party members, cure anyone who has been poisoned, remove any curses, and reset your skill point assignments should you wish to reassign them differently.

If you find yourself out in the wilderness, you’ll need to stumble upon one of the many campsites in the game. Worry not as there are plenty to find throughout your journey – but simply resting for the night won’t save your progress. Instead, to save your game in Dragon Quest XI you’ll need to speak to the Angel Statue that accompanies each one. Just like at a church, you’ll just have to select Confession (Save) to save your progress.

Alas, there is no option to transfer your save from the PS4 version to the still MIA 3DS version, which was available for Japanese players of the game.
