Battle Rally is the first DLC for Shenmue III, apparently challenging players with “a race unlike any other” – and it launches next week.
Deep Silver and Ys Net Inc. announced yesterday that the new Battle Rally DLC will be coming to Shenmue III on January 21st, but what the update actually contains still feels like something of a mystery.
The focus of Battle Rally seems to be some kind of foot race, one in which “contestants engage in head to head battles whilst racing their way through the course”, and placing first wins you useful items. Players will also be able to take control of characters besides Ryo Hazuki for the first time in the series, with Heavens gang leader Wuying Ren and Ryo’s sparring partner Wei Zhen also joining in the race.
This new DLC seems right in line with the rest of Shenmue III, which is to say, riddled with bizarre design choices. Hopefully we’ll be given a much clearer picture of what the new content actually is before it releases next Tuesday.
Battle Rally will be available to purchase individually for £6.49 through the PlayStation Store and the Epic Games Store. Those who purchased the Complete DLC Collection will automatically get access to the DLC on the day of release.
