Along with many guest musicians, Olivier Derivière is revealed as the lead composer for Streets of Rage 4, taking us “Behind the Music” in a new video.
Olivier Derivière, who has composed soundtracks for games such as A Plague Tale: Innocence, Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, Remember Me and the upcoming Dying Light 2, will serve as the principal composer for upcoming brawler Streets of Rage 4. An eclectic mix of guest musicians will be joining Derivière on the project, including original Streets of Rage composer Yuzo Koshiro, as well as more contemporary artists and composers such as Hotline Miami‘s Scattle.
As detailed in a brand new “Behind the Music” video featurette, this is all part of catpturing the unique sound they wanted; based on the idea of fusing retro and contemporary styles as well as sounds from the East and West.
“Basically we knew that the music in the Streets of Rage series was something super important, so that has been a central subject for us since the beginning.” Says Cyrille Imbert, Executive Producer on Streets of Rage 4. “We had to gather different artists on the game, the original artist of course, artists with influence from Japanese games from the 80s – 90s, but as well as more modern artists from the West”.
Streets of Rage 4 will be coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC this spring. You can check out the new “Behind the Music” video below, or head over to the game’s official website for more information.
