Can You Pet the Dogs in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom?

Tears of the Kingdom Dog

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has plenty of dogs hanging around settlements, tables and the like. But can you pet these good boys?

Let’s face it, everyone likes petting video game dogs. There’s even a Twitter account dedicated to confirming whether or not an in-game doggo can be petted. But what about Link’s latest? Can you pet the dogs in Tears of the Kingdom?

Unfortunately, you can’t pet the dogs in Tears of the Kingdom. Not at all. What’s unusual about this is that they’re clearly good boys and will happily follow you for short distances, as if they’re expecting a pet or a treat.

But it doesn’t matter what button you press, there’s no option to feed any of the dogs. The good news, for the dogs at least, is you also can’t pick them up. After what players have been doing to Koroks, we’re glad you can’t Ultrahand these canines.

Yes, you can look at the dogs, you can take pictures of them, you can even build a gigantic wooden dog statue if you feel so inclined. But unless Nintendo makes some big changes, you cannot pet the dog in Tears of the Kingdom.

He’ll tackle most genres – football titles aside – though he has a taste for games that that are post-apocalyptic, horror-oriented or thought provoking in nature.
