The 10 Games From E3 2017 That We’re Most Excited For

6. Super Mario Odyssey

I’ve been a little on the fence with everything I’ve seen of Super Mario Odyssey so far. I mean, it’s Mario, so of course it’d end up being enjoyable regardless. But 3D Marios – with the exception of Super Mario 64, of course – have never quite hit the same spot, so I had my doubts.

After seeing more gameplay footage of Super Mario Odyssey from Nintendo Spotlight and the following Treehouse presentation, however, I’ve no doubt that Odyssey is going to be the best example of 3D Mario we’re yet to see. It looks bat-shit crazy in the way that only a Nintendo platformer could get away with. Mario dresses up in a wealth of crazy costumes, explores some glorious-looking landscapes and cityscapes, and well, there’s even apparently a dinosaur.

Plus, the new trailer has its own theme song which is completely cheesy and impossible not to love. It’s coming to Switch on October 27th.

5. The Crew 2

If you played The Crew, Ubisoft’s open world racing game that released in 2014 with a couple of friends, you’ll know how much fun a digital road trip across the United States could be. We spent a seriously long time driving from coast-to-coast in the first game (one particular race was over an hour long, if I recall correctly), ranking up in our ‘crew’ as we went. It was mindless, arcade-style, good old fun.

It’s no surprise then that we’re very excited to see more of The Crew 2, a release that was teased by Ubisoft a few weeks ago following its 2017/18 financial year call. The upcoming release looks bigger and better than the first, with not just cars making up the roster of vehicles, but boats and planes getting in on the action too. The world looks more glorious than ever, as do the cars that we get to drive around it in. It’s slated for release in early 2018, and we can’t wait to take it for a spin.
