12 Amazing Games We Never Quite Finished

7. Europa Universalis IV or Crusader Kings II

Gammon: Easily two of the best of Paradox titles ever released, these games focus on kingdoms and nations, their rise and fall and the legacy of people and states over hundred of years. While Crusader Kings II is primarily about the rulers and the people behind the thrones, Europa Universalis IV puts its attention on the grand states and how they grow and govern.
What these games have on other Paradox titles in the same mould, like Hearts of Iron IV, is that they take place over hundreds of years, allowing minor nations to rise from ashes and fall to obscurity in a single playthrough. It is super engaging but by god, it takes forever. I have never made it through a whole campaign of either game as I get around 20 hours in and realise that I have either made a mistake and want to start again or I have achieved everything I set out to do. I don’t know how people manage to play a single campaign through Crusader Kings II, Europa Universalis IV, Victoria II and Hearts of Iron IV, they must be mental.
8. Stories Untold

Becca: Stories Untold was a game that really intrigued me after reading a few reviews about it. It is a text adventure game made up of four “episodes” completely different from one another. The first episode was incredible. I was impressed with its ability to make me feel terrified even though I was only reading words on a screen.
As I moved on in Stories Untold, though, I found the second episode to be absolutely infuriating. I’m not one to yell about a game for not giving hints but with no instruction whatsoever I was completely clueless. I never went back to Stories Untold simply because I haven’t had the time or energy to take it on by myself.
