NieR: Automata is now available on Xbox One.
Released over a year ago on PS4 and PC, we didn’t quite think it would happen. But here we are with the BECOME AS GODS edition. And you know what? If you’re an Xbox One owner you should definitely buy it. Why? Well, read on.
There’s nothing else quite like it
There really isn’t anything else like NieR: Automata. Well, apart from its predecessor. One minute it’s an open world action-adventure game, the next, a platformer. And mixed in with all that is a bit of bullet-hell shooter. It’s unique and unusual, and all the better for it. And let’s not forget its thought-provoking story, which will drive you ever onwards. Once you’ve played NieR: Automata you’ll not forget about it. How many games make that kind of impact?
You know how most single-player action games have about ten hours of content and then that’s it? That’s not the case with NieR: Automata. Completing the game for the first time can take anywhere between 10-30 hours, and that’s just the beginning. Once the credits have rolled you’ll find yourself back in the action again with a surprising twist. There are five main endings to uncover overall, and only once you’ve witnessed them all will you feel content. And if you ever feel like playing through the game again, there are numerous difficulty options, too.
It looks and plays better on Xbox One X
We won’t lie, NieR: Automata is a visually inconsistent game. There are some brilliant character models and also some poor ones. Enemy design can be bland at times. And while some environments will make your jaw drop, others will just make you yawn. What’s more, even if you played the game on a PS4 Pro, it only outputted at 1080p, and still had the occasional framerate issue at that. On a standard Xbox One the experience is largely the same as the game being played on a normal PS4, which is impressive in itself. If you play NieR: Automata on Xbox One X, however, you’re in for the best console experience available. Image quality is sharper, texture filtering appears to be improved, and the framerate seems to be just a tad smoother. Aside from playing the game on PC, you can’t better than playing the game on an Xbox One X.
It includes all the DLC
Despite the game receiving critical acclaim, NieR: Automata wasn’t one of those games that receives a deluge of content after launch. There was no season pass; no expansions to enhance the experience. There were some tidbits of DLC though, and the BECOME AS GODS Edition of NieR: Automata includes them as standard. The crazily named 3C3C1D119440927 DLC pack includes three costumes from NieR: Replicant, one for each of the game’s protagonists. To unlock them, however, you’ll have to complete sub-quests that the DLC introduces into the game. It may not sound like much, but considering that the 3C3C1D119440927 DLC retails for £11.49 on PS4 and £9.49 on PC, it’s nice to have it included for free.
It sends a message
It’s not very often that games like NieR: Automata get released on Xbox One. Many Japanese developers and publishers shy away from Microsoft’s console as they don’t believe their games will sell well on them. Let’s prove them wrong! By buying NieR: Automata BECOME AS GODS Edition you’re helping to send the message that games of its ilk are wanted and appreciated on Xbox. Sure, it’s not ideal that it has come over a year after being released on other formats, but if you’ve not yet played it or just want to experience it again, buying NieR: Automata BECOME AS GODS Edition on Xbox One is a very good move.
