New Documentary Goes “Inside Final Fantasy VII Remake”

Square Enix just released the first in a series of illuminating videos, giving behind-the-scenes insights about the making of Final Fantasy VII Remake.

Like us, you may have already tried out the Final Fantasy VII Remake Demo, and like us, you may have been thoroughly impressed. Square Enix are certainly doing a lot to keep fans pumped for the game’s launch, and if you’re one of those fans, you’re probably desperate for any bit of information you can get your hands on.

Well you’re in luck, because a new video series entitled “Inside Final Fantasy VII Remake” has just kicked off on the Final Fantasy YouTube channel; with Episode 1: Introduction giving us over 20 minutes of interviews and insights describing some of the processes and challenges encountered while trying to reimagine the classic RPG.

“The reason we decided to return to Final Fantasy VII and begin the remake project,” begins Yoshinori Kitasi, Director of the original game and Producer on the remake. “goes back to 2012 when we held the Final Fantasy 25th anniversary exhibition. So, it was a good time to consider the future of Final Fantasy.”

The video then goes on to describe how the team came together to work on the remake, how they struck a balance between appealing to old fans and new players alike, the new approach to combat, the city setting of Midgar and more.

Final Fantasy VII Remake is coming to the PlayStation 4 on April 10th.
