Top Five Games From the Show Floor of E3 2017

4. Detroit: Become Human

Quantic Dream’s latest game made its third E3 appearance, and still has no release date – but that didn’t prevent me from enjoying every minute of the hands-on demo I was able to play.
If you know David Cage and Quantic Dream, you know what to expect in terms of how the game will play out. Much like his previous projects – Heavy Rain, Beyond Two Souls – Detroit is heavily story-driven, with quick time events and player-driven choices propelling the narrative forward. What you won’t know, however, is exactly how great Detroit‘s mechanics and concepts tie into the basic concept of the game and how emotionally resonant it is.
The short demo I played involved having to use clues to try and talk down a hostile android who has taken a child hostage. Despite only being a teaser of what’s to come, it’s already one of the more harrowing experiences I’ve had in games. Knowing there is so much more to experience when the game finally releases made the experience all the more bittersweet.
I need this game in my life.
Detroit: Become Human has no release date, and is a PlayStation exclusive.
