12 More Games We Never Quite Finished

5. Metal Gear Solid

Gammon: Metal Gear Solid is the reason everybody hangs on Hideo Kojima’s every word. It was a  triumph in gaming that showed many people that games didn’t just have to be played but they could be experienced as well. Though I do not believe that it was the first game to truly adopt cinematic storytelling, it was one of the first games that showed exactly what that meant. Playing through Metal Gear Solid was like jumping into a brutal spy thriller and feeling the blows yourself.
But Kojima being Kojima meant that there was hours upon hours of cutscenes, a trait he is still known for to this day. He also played unusual tricks on you as the player, pushing you to the limit of what you expect from a videogame. Some of these tricks worked – like the Psycho Mantis boss battle making you insert your controller into port two so he couldn’t ‘read your mind’. Other tricks, like making you climb a ridiculously long ladder, were just laborious and made you turn off your PlayStation.
6. Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch

Becca:Â Believe it or not I am actually in the middle of another play through of Ni no Kuni currently because of its sequel being released in just a few weeks. To me, Ni no Kuni was the RPG I always wanted. The world was beautiful, the characters were adorable and well written, and the gameplay was really easy to learn.
For some reason, after about 20 hours with the game on my first play through I just lost the motivation to keep going. I believe it was because I had just reached the desert area and kept getting attacked by skeletons of a sort that seemed way too difficult for my skill level. Still, I love it despite never finishing it. I’m hoping the sequel lives up to its predecessor.
