It should come as no surprise to anyone that Marvel’s Spider-Man sold pretty well.
It’s already broken various records and been top of the gaming charts for a few weeks now both sides of the Atlantic. However, Sony yesterday revealed on Twitter that the game has reached a pretty significant milestone: it has become the fastest-selling PS4 exclusive ever by shifting 3.3 million copies in its first three days.
Marvel’s Spider-Man is setting records! It’s now the fastest-selling first-party PlayStation title, selling 3.3M+ in its first 3 days.

The record was previously held by God of War, with the Nordic parenting simulator selling 3.1 million copies in its first few days. To put those figures in some sort of context, Grand Theft Auto V, the fastest selling game of all time, sold over 11 million copies in its first day of release, which just goes to show the difference between a big bit and a monster hit.
This commercial success goes hand in hand with the critical acclaim Spider-Man has received thus far, with its dynamic, acrobatic open-world shenanigans thrilling gamers the world over. Fingers crossed it also paves the way for more superhero games. Personally I’m still dying for a proper Iron-Man game, and the rumours about Rocksteady working on a Superman game refuse to go away, so who knows what comic book fantasies we’ll be playing out in the years to come.
