10 Things I’ve Learned From My 10 Platinum Trophies

3. The process can really show you how much you like a game
To get a platinum trophy, you might have to play a game two or three times over. Sometimes you don’t realise how good a game is until you have to do that. A few personal examples of these are Ratchet & Clank, Dishonored and Dishonored 2.
I had to play each of these games through more than twice to get their platinum trophies, and I was 100% okay with it. Sometimes you don’t know just how much you love a game until you play it more than twice.

4. There’s always a slogging period
It doesn’t matter how fun a game is, there will always come a point in the platinum process that the whole thing will feel like a drag. Some trophy lists are better made than others, and some are just awful altogether. Obtaining every single trophy can be tiresome, and I can guarantee you that there will be at least one trophy on every list that will make you feel like a slave to the game. This is the hardest part of every platinum. You might hate yourself for it, but remember that it’s going to be worth it in the end.
A fine example of this is in my most recent platinum: Tekken 7. For the trophy “No pain, No gain”, you have to deal 50,000 damage in the practice mode of the game. Getting that organically while you learn move sets is fine, but it could take you hours. To get this trophy, I sat watching YouTube videos for about 45 minutes while I continually pressed one button. I’m not proud of that, but that’s the level commitment you might need to put in.
