10 Things I’ve Learned From My 10 Platinum Trophies

5. When you can’t get the last trophy you need, it hurts

Okay, so, this one still hurts me a bit. When you really start getting into trophy hunting you start to recognise games you might try to platinum. For me, one of these was Dying Light. I absolutely adore Dying Light and have played hundreds of hours of it. I got so many trophies organically and only really had to slog for a few of them.

However, one trophy has still alluded me to this day. The trophy, aptly named “Polyamory”, needs you to play five quests in the game with the same three partners. I have two friends who play the game, and finding one more to get this trophy with has never been something that has proved easy. Other than that, I have every other trophy in the game. If it weren’t for that one bronze trophy, I’d have 11 platinums.

Don’t even ask how irritated that still makes me. Online trophies suck.

6. Be prepared to get competitive

My best friend was the one who got me into trophy hunting. He had been doing it for years and had built up a huge amount of trophies. I, on the other hand, had gotten a fair amount from not actually trying. Back then I was still two whole trophy levels behind him.

When I got my first platinum trophy, he had 4. I now have 10, while he has 7. While I’m winning the platinum race, he still leads me by a trophy level and a half. It could take me years to catch him if I ever actually manage to. My point is, if you enjoy some healthy competition, trophy hunting may be the hobby within a hobby for you.
