10 Things I’ve Learned From My 10 Platinum Trophies

7. Telltale platinums are the best/worst

There’s a constant debate between trophy hunters about if these platinums should even count. For those who are blissfully unaware, Telltale games usually have platinum trophies. However, to get these platinums, in most cases all you have to do is play the game. No extras, no special actions or skills needed. Just playing through every episode to the end will get you a shiny platinum trophy.

For those still looking to get their first platinum, one of these might be perfect for you. I currently have two, and whilst I agree that they aren’t the most amazing trophies to show off, they still add to the numbers. On top of that, they’re usually very fun games to play. What are you going to do? Reject the platinum the game gives you at the end because it wasn’t challenging enough? I don’t think so. Platinums are enticing, so I don’t blame people for looking for easy ones to get. Just bear in mind that they’re not the ones to be proudest of.

8. When a game doesn’t have a platinum you will curse Shuhei

After your 3rd or 4th platinum, you’ll start getting really good at critiquing trophy lists. Be warned though, as not every game you come across will be blessed with a platinum trophy. When they’re absent from a game you really enjoy this can get extremely annoying.

No one’s totally sure how the process works during development. As far as I know from research and listening to other game journalists talk about it, all a studio has to do is ask. If a developer asks for their game to get a platinum, they’ll usually get one. However, not all developers are that big on trophies in the first place, so just try to remember that when you’re cursing at them on twitter for not including a platinum in their game.
