10 Upcoming 2018 Movies To Look Forward To (That Aren’t in the MCU or Star Wars)
The Incredibles 2
June 15, 2018
The Incredibles 2 is probably the film on here that seems like the most likely to succeed, but a lot has changed since The Incredibles successfully deconstructed the superhero genre back in 2004.
Superhero films rule the roost these days and a lot of the concepts that The Incredibles touched in the film have been addressed en masse – such as what happens in the aftermath of when superheroes destroy the cities they’re trying to defend, plus the family dynamic has been explored on numerous TV shows. Nothing else has done either nearly as well as The Incredibles did, however, and I personally can’t wait to see what Brad Bird has instore for the family in this long-awaited sequel.
Sicario 2: Soldado
June 29, 2018
Sicario is easily one of my favourite films of 2015. An extremely well-made and tense thriller by director Denis Villeneuve that told a tight story about America’s involvement with the drug cartels and how the virtues of one soldier didn’t amount to much in the drug war.
Villeneuve isn’t back for Sicario 2: Soldado and neither is Emily Blunt, but writer Taylor Sheriden is as is Benicio Del Toro and Josh Brolin. I have hopes for a good, if not great, sequel.
