Combat is undoubtedly the best thing about Rage 2, and so you’re going to want to unlock more guns to give you more options.
Obtaining new guns in Rage 2 isn’t as simple as picking them up off the floor or buying them from vendors like in other games. In Rage 2, you need to unlock them by finding Arks.
There are many ways to find Arks in Rage 2. Going into the weapons tab in your inventory and highlighting a gun you haven’t unlocked will give a clue as to the whereabouts of the Ark that contains it. You’ll also come across many Arks as you engage in activities in the game’s open world. And if you use Focus, you’ll see beams shooting up into the sky that give you a rough idea of where Arks are. Many Arks are found by simply following the game’s story.
Once you’ve located an Ark, which looks like a futuristic pod, use Focus to open it up. Then you simply need to enter it and stick your arm in its hole. You’ll either gain a new Nanotrite ability, or a new gun. Either way, a short tutorial will then commence to demonstrate how to use it effectively.
Once you’ve obtained a gun, you can upgrade it to make it more powerful and enable a number of perks. To do so, you simply need to go to the weapons tab in your inventory, highlight the gun you want to upgrade and press A on Xbox One or X on PS4. To level up a gun you’ll need Feltrite, which can be found in containers and obtained by killing enemies. And to unlock perks once a gun has been levelled up you need Weapon Core mods. They can be found in Ark Chests and bought from vendors.
